For you who come from cities outside Jakarta and want to visit Jakarta with cars, there are some things you have to know first about the traffic system in Jakarta. Because of Jakarta’s traffic jam, Governor Sutiyoso, the DKI Governor from earlier, created three in one system. What is this three in one system?
- Three in One is where one car should be filled with minimum three passengers.
- Three in One was created by DKI Jakarta’s Governor in 1997-2007, Sutiyoso.
- This traffic regulation system has a purpose to reduce traffic jam and limit the amount of private vehicles to enter the three in one area, except if there are three or more passengers in that car.
- The routes with three in one system are Jl. Sisingamangaraja (the fast and slow lane), Jl. Jenderal Sudirman (the fast and slow lane), Jl. MH. Thamrin (the fast and slow lane), Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat, Jl. Jend. Gatot Subroto (between the intersection of Jl. Gatot Subroto – Jl. Gerbang Pemuda, to the intersection of Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said – Jl. Jend. Gatot Subroto).
- Three in one system starts in the morning at 7am to 10am, and the evening on 4.30pm to 7 pm.
- This rule is applied only on weekdays, from Monday to Friday.
- Taxi and other public vehicles are allowed to pass the three in one system. For the purpose of increasing people to use public transportation in order to reduce the city’s traffic jam.
