Starts next week, not only Sudirman and Thamrin areas applying odd-even traffic policy, but also Jakarta – Cikampek toll road. It will be applied in West Bekasi toll road to the Semanggi exit toll.
This policy exactly, will be the same as previous policy that only available in rush hour, like in the morning and in the afternoon, times during which most people commute in Sudirman – Thamrin and license plates ending in odd digits are permitted use the road on odd dates and so the even digits, can only use the road on even dates.
Odd-even policy at Cikampek Toll Road aims to reduce traffic congestion caused by too many vehicle pass this toll road. At least, there are 40.000 vehicle run Bekasi – Jakarta toll road every day. Besides that vehicle volume, traffic also caused by MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), LRT (Light Rail Transit) and Jakarta – Cikampek Elevated Toll Road massive projects that used half of road.
Along with odd-even policy, Ministry of Transportation also provides alternative transportation, buses for Bekasi residents towards to Jakarta and vice versa. If this substitute run effectively, they will add more buses up to 100 buses a day.
