According to the chairperson of the Jakarta Association of Indonesian Shopping Centers Association (APPBI), Ellen Hidayat, Chairperson of the Jakarta Association of Indonesian Shopping Centers Association (APPBI), Ellen Hidayat, based on Governor Regulation Number 51 of 2020 and Governor's Decision Number 563 of 2020, shopping centers or malls are scheduled to reopen on 15 June 2020, along with the implementation of the Transitional Large-scale Social Restriction (PSBB) in Jakarta.
Even so, there are several categories that will remain closed on 15 June and are being considered for opening in the next phase. It is leisure category including cinema, fitness, karaoke, children's playground and courses.
During this phase one of the Transitional Large-scale Social Restriction, there are several shopping center tenants permitted to operate. According to Ellen, this has been carefully studied by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta.
The shopping center in Jakarta has actually remained open since the first PSBB was implemented, but only a few categories are permitted including retail selling basic needs, pharmacies, and F&B (delivery service and take away only).
Ellen said, when it will reopened later, the operating hours of all shopping centers in Jakarta will be limited, starting at 11.00 to 20.00. In addition, the capacity of visitors is only allowed as much as 50%.
During operation in the new normal era, shopping center managers are required to implement health protocols such as:
- Body temperature checks on mall employees and visitors.
- The use of masks and face shields for all employees.
- Provides hand sanitizer or sink for hand washing.
- Implements social distancing since visitors enter the mall, the queue at cashier, until when visitors using escalator.
- Lift capacity must be limited.
- Payments at all tenants must use digital transactions to prevent transmission of the virus through direct contact and physical money.
