The Kali Besar revitalization project in Kota Tua, West Jakarta, has finished, and the area is now open to the public. The opening itself was done by the Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Sandiaga Uno on 7 July 2018.
When Alinear came to this place, not many people visited. We just seen a few people taken photos around. That quite situation used by a bunch of young people for skateboarding. Indeed you will not see shady trees here. But, in the next we pretty sure Kali Besar will be cooler, because we found a lot of trees planted and these all going to be shady at the time.
Kali Besar looks fused with elder buildings surrounding. Wide pedestrian lane with andesite stones as the pedestal makes the-old-Jakarta atmosphere getting stronger. The clean area makes Alinear forgot this place still in Jakarta.

The most fascinating of the new Kali Besar is the floating area built on the river. Unfortunately while Alinear came, that area is still closed, we don’t have the information when this area will be opened to public. Although the river still looks turbid, but there is no smell stinky here. Other attraction of Kali Besar is some unique statues. At some corner you will also find lovely plants beautify this place.
To reach Kali Besar is so easy. You just have to walk for only couple of minutes from Jakarta History Museum area also known as Fatahillah Museum. Follow the sign or ask the security officer. Happy holiday!
