If you are an art lover or just want to see an unusual art exhibition, you must come to the Jakarta Biennale 2015. The event is held at Gudang Sarinah from November 15, 2015 to January 17, 2016. It was first held in 1974 by the name of Pameran Seni Lukis Indonesia (Indonesia Painting Art Exhibition) but since it is held only once every two years, the name was changed into Jakarta Biennale. This year, Jakarta Biennale carries the theme of ‘Maju Kena, Mundur Kena’ (Back and Forth), which means to review the present-time without having stuck on nostalgia of the past or the uncertainty of the future.
Not only artists from Indonesia, international artists also participate on this event. Besides of the art exhibition, Jakarta Biennale also prepare supporting programs such as seminars, workshops, public education and performance stage that can be enjoyed by all audiences, both local and international. At Gudang Sarinah you can see the mural arts by the artists that contain of messages regarding the discussed topics.
On every weekend there will be creative market from all of different creative communities. For this weekend the theme is “Hobbies” which is the community of hobbies such as bicycle. There will be activities related to bicycle community like the exhibition, bike talks, messenger race and also movie screening. Do you want to know what are they?
