SC Crooke's rediscovery of this historical site led to a fascinating historical excavation. This temple is believed to be one of the remnants of the Srivijaya Kingdom and served as a place of worship and a center for learning Buddhism. The presence of Buddhist patterns in the building's structure and the discovery of Old Javanese script in the temple area provide evidence to support this belief.
