Cultural Identity at Indonesia Fashion Week 2018

Pre-event Gathering Indonesia Fashion Week 2018.

The biggest Fashion Week in Indonesia, Indonesia Fashion Week 2018 (IFW) will be held less than two weeks. In the series of their event “Road to Indonesia Fashion Week 2018”, Asosiasi Perancang dan Pengusaha Mode Indonesia (APPMI) with BUMN Creative House (RKB) held Pre-event Gathering Indonesia Fashion Week 2018, March 15th at Fashion Legacy, Lippo Mall Kemang, South Jakarta.

It was attended by Poppy Dharsono (President of APPMI and IFW), Judith Jubilina Dipoditro (Special Assistant II BUMN), Melissa Siska Juminto (Managing Director Tokopedia), Shabrina Salsabila (Brand Executive Wardah) and representative from Bank Mandiri. 

IFW 2018 will be held at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), March 28th – April 1st with a theme Cultural Identity. Poppy Dharsono said, “Cultural Identity remind us to engage Indonesian heritage adding economy value through community and identity. We also can fight the strong globalization with our heritage.”

Indonesian government through RKB fully support this biggest fashion event. Judith Jubilina Dipodiputro said, “IFW is a perfect event, moment for small and medium enterprises sectors (UMKM) carried by RKB to access market easily, expand network, business also developing the economy for the whole country.”

Fashion show also enliven this pre-event. It showed uniquely indigenous customes from three different regions, Lake Toba, Central Java (Borobudur) and Labuhan Bajo. According to Poppy, those three regions chosen because of their distinctive inheritance. In their seventh times, IFW also collaborated with 200 designers, both local and International, 460 fashion and textile participants, workshop to the culinary from all the regions of Indonesia.
