The Southeast Indies trading company, VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) is a Dutch trade alliance who monopolized the trading in Asia in 1602-1799. Indonesia also had history with VOC, where VOC colonized the kingdom area in Java, Sumatera, and Maluku on the 16th century.
Until now, there are still some VOC historical heritages in Indonesia, one of them is Galangan VOC (galangan: shipyard) located in Penjaringan, North Jakarta. Galangan VOC was used by the Dutch as VOC’s head office. This building was built around the year of 1628, it was also the warehouse for shipyard goods at Onrust Island, Thousand Islands.
