Most regions in Indonesia including Jakarta experience a prolonged hot season. Besides, extreme hot weather, this hot season also bringing a number of diseases which listed down below.
1. Diphtheria
Lately, you might have shocked by the news of diphtheria disease in Indonesia. After disappearing in 2017, this disease came again. Diphtheria itself is an infection caused by Corynebacterium diphteriae which producing harmful toxins, attach to the lining of respiratory system and spreading to other body parts. When it happens, people might suffer strep throat, high fever, periods of weakness, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) and swollen glands in the neck.
2. Dehydration
When your body losses a lot of fluids and followed by symptoms including dizziness, period of weakness, fainting and dark urine, it can be sure you are suffering dehydration. It can happens for all people who work outdoors and forget to drink amount of water. Dehydration can cause seizures, kidney stones, and urinary tract infections.
3. Respiratory Infections
Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (ISPA) is the most common disease during hot season. The amount of dirt during hot season way more heavy than rainy season. That is why those dirt can irritate the upper respiratory tract. ISPA usually followed by sore throat, nasal congestion, fever and headache. You can easily prevent ISPA with drink a lot of water, using mask while doing activities outdoors, and take some rest.
