Integrated public transportation is one of the characteristics of developed city. Integrated in lines, transportation modes, to the method of payment for trip tickets. Millions of Greater Jakarta commuters depend their mobility on a variety of public transportation both trains and buses. Getting an integrated and integrated public transportation system is people right that must be fulfilled by the government.
Therefore, Jakarta Provincial Government through PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) collaborated with Ministry of SOEs and Ministry of Transportation through PT KAI (Persero) establish PT Moda Integrasi Transportasi Jabodetabek.
The signing of the cooperation was carried out as a follow-up to the Head of Agreement previously carried out between PT KAI and PT MRT Jakarta to realize the integration of rail-based transportation management in Greater Jakarta area.
"We started a discussion a year ago about integration with the President. It was in February. And thank God, since last October experienced tremendous acceleration. The Head of Agreement was December 9, 2019, then now we together witness the stakeholder agreement which marks the birth of a JV that we named PT. Moda Integrasi Transportasi Jabodetabek, "said DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan at Ministry of SOEs Building in Central Jakarta, on Friday (10/1).
On the same occasion, Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, hopes that this cooperation would run well and the community could feel the benefits immediately. “That requires sincerity and commitment from all parties. If this cooperation model is successful, then this can be used as a reference for other regions in developing mass public transportation, especially urban railways," said Budi.
Integration of transportation modes will also be carried out with other existing transportation, such as buses including pedestrians. Anies hopes that the integration system will cover governance, routes, and ticket cards that can be used by the community.
Meanwhile, according to President Director of PT MRT Jakarta William Sabandar, the joint venture will manage integrated rail transportation and transit-oriented areas in Greater Jakarta area, including investment business activities according to business licenses and applicable laws in Indonesia.
In addition to collaborating to establish a new company, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) together with PT KAI (Persero) also worked together in terms of structuring integrated stations starting with 4 pilot stations, Sudirman Station, Senen Station, Juanda Station, and Tanah Abang Station. The arrangement of the four stations is expected to be able to display the acceleration of integration between transportation modes in a short time.
Please note, the signing of this cooperation agreement was witnessed by Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, President Director of PT MRT Jakarta William Sabandar, and President Director of PT KAI Edi Sukmoro.
