Hearing the company name of PT Bintang Toedjoe, it might remind you of their product which is Puyer No.16 Bintang Toedjoe because of the catchy advertisement they brought and being well-known on the early of 2000s. Puyer No. 16 is the first product of the company founded by sinshe Tan Jun She along with son-in-law, Tjia Pu Tjien and Hioe On Tjan in 1946. And then in 1950, Bintang Toedjoe moved the production place and the company from Garut, West Java, to Jakarta. From only a few of workers using simple equipment, Bintang Toedjoe has always developed by adding many workers to pharmacists. That’s why, in the early of 1970s, Bintang Toedjoe started to focus on producing medicines with doctor recipes and also products related to public health. Bintang Toedjoe has vision and mission to produce innovative and high quality product with affordable price for public health.
Along with the development to reach wider market, Bintang Toedjoe was acquired by Kalbe Farma Group in 1985. Of course after this acquisition, Bintang Toedjoe keeps streaking to exporting the products to foreign country. Because of the loaded productions and the Cempaka Putih factory could not accommodate anymore, in 1983 Bintang Toedjoe was moved the office and factory into Pulogadung Industrial Estate located in the area of 12.000 m2. One year later, Bintang Toedjoe accepted CPOB certificate (Cara Pembuatan Obat yang Baik, a certificate that indicates a factory already meets the good standard of medicines making) from the Indonesian Health Department for the factory. In 1997, Bintang Toedjoe was being the first pharmacy company in Indonesia who received ISO 9001 certificate. Wow!
In 2002, the head office of Bintang Toedjoe was moved to Pulomas, while the older factory still stayed in Pulogadung by adding the new factory on 25.000 m2 of area. Both are still used until now.
