PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) in collaboration with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) (Perseroda) will form a joint venture company with the main task of conducting integration studies, as well as revamping station area and managing transit-oriented area as an effort to reach Jakarta as the smart city.
The cooperation was stated in the form of Head of Agreement (HoA) which was signed directly by the President Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), William Sabandar, and Managing Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), Edi Sukmoro, on Monday (9/12/19), at the City Hall of DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
In his remarks, Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, expressed his appreciation for this initiative. "We express our appreciation for the intermodal transportation integration plan in Jakarta, which is entering a new phase. This means that millions of Jakartanss will be able to move from one mode to another freely and easily," Anies said.
President Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), William Sabandar, also said, in the next month, a joint venture would have been formed. "During the next month, in which the formation of this new company will also be formed, in which the integration study must have formed three months after the company was formed so we can see the concrete results of the integration and management plan for transit-oriented area," William explained.
Deputy Minister of BUMN RI, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, also hopes that with the management of this transit-oriented area, Jakartans are interested in living in area near public transportation nodes. "We will inject initial capital for the study because the joint venture's main task is to manage the management of stations in Jakarta by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) so passenger flow can be more comfortable," she said.
On the same occasion, President Director of PT KAI (Persero), Edi Sukmoro also approved this agreement. "KAI agrees that this needs to be done, so transportation management in Jabodetabek is more optimal, and people are increasingly interested in using mass transportation modes," Edi said.
