Jakarta - Cikampek II Elevated Toll Road Free Until New Year

The operation of the Japek II Elevated toll road is free until new year.

Jakarta - Cikampek II Elevated Toll or Japek Toll Road was inaugurated on Thursday (12/12/2019) by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Jokowi ensured that the operation of the Japek II Elevated toll road is free until new year. Jokowi admitted that the decision to free toll rates was after he asked the BPJT (Toll Road Regulatory Agency), PT Jasa Marga (Persero).

"Alhamdulillah, Jakarta-Cikampek elevated toll road has been completed and this I have asked the owner to be free until new year," Jokowi said, as quoted from detik.com.

For information, this elevated toll road officially operated yesterday, Sunday (12/15/19), starting at 06.00 WIB. Japek Layang Toll Road stretches from Cikunir section to West Karawang (Sta 9 + 500 to Sta 47 + 500), and is right above the existing Jakarta - Cikampek (Japek) toll road. The 36.4 kilometer (km) toll road has become the longest highway with the elevated structure in Indonesia for now.

Car drivers from Jakarta can enter Japek Elevated Toll via Dalam Kota Toll, Wiyoto Wiyono Toll, JORR Toll and Jagorawi Toll. People can use the elevated toll road to go to Bandung, Central Java and East Java. For the reverse direction, people from East Java, Central Java and Bandung can pass Trans Java Toll Road and Cipularang Toll Road, to be able to use Japek II Elevated Toll to Jakarta.

During the Christmas and New Year 2020 holidays, Japek II ElevatedToll Road is still intended for Class I cars. Road supporting facilities such as signs and street lights have been installed 100%. Not only that, in order to maintain order, Jasa Marga cooperates with the police force to implement ETLE (Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement). At least, there are 113 CCTVs installed in Jakarta - Cikampek Elevated Toll Road section.

The elevated toll road is indeed reserved for long-distance drivers. People will not find access to rest area or exit along KM 9 + 500 to KM 47 + 500. This means that drivers must ensure sufficient fuel and electronic money until they find the next rest area or exit.

As the longest elevated toll road with no exit access, what if there is an emergency? Japek II Elevated Toll Road is equipped with eight u-turns (vehicle turning point), if an emergency happens. In addition, there is also emergency staircases as access, which is located right at each u-turn point. Emergency stairs are on two sides of each elevated toll lane.

The head of BPJT, Danang Parikesit, said that parking bay emergency locations will be prepared in two elevated toll lanes. In the east lane (Jakarta - Karawang), emergency parking locations are in km 20 and km 41. While in the opposite lane (Karawang-Jakarta), the locations are at km 39 and km 22. However, this emergency parking bay can only be used in February 2020.
