Mudik (exodus season) becomes a tradition around the time of Eid al-Fitr. Taking long trips is not easy, it’s actually tricky, especially for your health. Health is an important part of leading a safety, comfy trips. Here are simple ways for maintaining good health for mudik.
1. Exercise
Take a time to do light exercise few days before going to your hometown. You can take 20 minutes a day to jogging, it will help keep your body fit. On the day, to avoid muscle stiffness during long trips, you can do some light stretching in crucial areas including waist and legs, especially for those who take bus, train or ferry.
2. Food
The best time to take long trips is morning, right after suhoor, when your stomach still full charged and your body is in a fit condition. Try to not eat spicy and sour food for suhoor. You can choose either soup, vegetables like cucumbers and fruit like watermelon and honeydew which contain more water than others to prevent dehydration.
3. Hydrated
Drinking enough water is an important key to keep your body hydrated during long trips. You can also drink coconut water which contains higher electrolytes than water. It can be drink during suhoor or right after breaking the fast to replace your body fluids.
