PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) launched Special Train service on Saturday (09/28/2019), which coincided with its 74th birthday. The inauguration was held on the railroad track in front of Pusdiklat Ir H Djuanda in Bandung. The inauguration of this commercial train was carried out by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, who was accompanied by the President Directorof PT KAI Edi Sukmoro and KAI officials. Here are some interesting facts about Special Train that you should know.
1. Consists of Two Carriages
Kereta Api Istimewa is a private commercial train. A special train consists of two KRD type carriages with a total capacity of 40 passengers.
2. Estimated Rates Starting at Rp. 19 Million
Until now there has been no information about Special Train fixed price. However, the Minister of Transportation had mentioned the fare range for Jakarta-Bandung route around Rp. 19 million for 40 passengers.
3. Topnotch Facilities
In one of the Special Train carriages there is a long table that functions for meeting purposes, equipped with soft chairs with an elegant classic touch. There is also a wide screen and projector for presentation purposes. In other carriage, sofas are available just like in the living room. There are also smaller tables for meeting in small group. Facilities provided such as meeting room, lounge, mini bar, karaoke, prayer room, and toilets.
4. Schedule As You Wish
President Director of PT KAI Edi Sukmoro said that the Special Train chedule could be adjusted to passenger wish because it doesn’t include regular train trip.
5. Serves Medium-Distance Routes
The train, managed by KAI's subsidiary, PT KA Wisata, can be ordered for medium distances such as Jakarta-Bandung, Jakarta-Cirebon and Jakarta-Semarang. According to Edi, Special Train is ideal for business, reunion, event, to family recreation, etc.
6. Remodeling Train
Minister Budi Karya Sumadi also said, KA Istimewa was actually an old train that was renovated. This train concept proves that proper and clear renovations can increase the value of train services.
